Amid the darkness, Shrapnel stands for hope.
Despite having been conceived only as an idea in my head this last year, Shrapnel came to life as a result of my passion for creating something unique and unmatched in the clothing industry. A rocket struck the side of my Grandpa's ship in Vietnam causing shrapnel to penetrate his legs and head, and impaired one of his eyes. Though my grandpa was struck with shrapnel he still stands to this day. This story stands to edify us. Hearing about his wounds and the unfortunate situation that came to him was soon to be used as a pedestal for the light. I was conflicted with the idea of how something so violent and painful could be used for good. But the shrapnel that unexpectedly pierced him was soon to bring hope. The term shrapnel, originating from the process of combustion, is brought to you. How will you wear Shrapnel?

Light Over Darkness Collection
The horizon line like it or not separates light, it is an unyielding boundary, stretching out to the farthest point of the earth. This horizon line is always met by a rise, a resurrection. A point where the dirt of the earth is met by an abounding shining force of good. Still with this overwhelming force of good is the lingering nature of darkness. It looms, a formidable opponent to the light, but through their longstanding battle, the light always emerges victorious. As John 1:5 says, "Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." This collection exudes a sense of promise and victory for those who choose to wear it.
Branding,
How I did it.
It started with...
the name. How would I make a brand let alone a name?
I went back and forth for some time trying to come up with brand names and eventually, the story about my grandpa's Vietnam experience struck me and the name Shrapnel would soon be the title of my streetwear company.
The Logo
Literally, Shrapnel...
I broke apart plexiglass from a leftover senior art project and scanned them from my Epson scanner. I wanted to take from my grandpa, metaphorically... just his shrapnel though. And the way that seemed most tangible was through a scanner and glass.

And you end up with a rugged, mountainous, bold, trendy logo.
Tell me more....
Well, you know the trends. Bold wide typefaces are the thing right now. You see it on ESPN, Major League football teams, it's sporty. But also strong enough to be used for logo and copy. The one I use is by Supremat, called Benzin.
